Type Browser.NET Editor's Review

Type Browser enables you to find out the parameters of any .NET function. It also shows the accessibility level of each class or function (public, private, or protected), the result type of each method, and the contents of Enums. Browsing the .NET classes is very easy, because the program is well organized.

The user interface doesn't feature any fancy controls, but its functionality is excellent. The steps you take to find a specific class from the .NET framework are pretty simple. First, you define the assemblies that you want to browse. This is done by clicking the "Assemblies" tab, and double-clicking any of the items that appear in the list. Next, the assembly names, which you selected, populate the "Assembly" combo box from the "Types" tab page. After choosing the item of interest from this combo box, you should click the small "" button.

The program is designed for .NET programmers. If you don't know or don't use .NET, you shouldn't download this product. I guess this software should come in handy to an advanced programmer.

Pluses:

Drawbacks / flaws: At first I thought that the publisher doesn't provide any help file with the program. I couldn't find any documentation at all, except a short text, which only appeared the first time I ran the program. Later, I found that pressing the F1 key brings up a simple help dialog.

In conclusion: Type Browser should be used by experienced programmers to browse the .NET Framework namespaces, classes, methods, and attributes.
